Mission, Vision and Core Values

The mission of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature is to enlighten individuals equipped with contemporary knowledge in terms of language and literary history, to announce the studies in the field in the international arena, and to contribute to universal studies in this way. In doing so, it is to investigate the sources of Turkish culture, to develop appropriate methods of investigation by considering the products in the connection of author, work and period, and to evaluate the findings and results obtained in terms of literature and language. The Department of Turkish Language and Literature, within the framework of its mission and vision, aims to educate individuals who recognise their own culture, can easily access universal knowledge, find research and development methods appropriate to the age, think contemporary, and transfer their acquisitions to future generations impartially and accurately.

The aims of the department are to deal with the issues related to literature in the context of author, work and period, to show the original documents that are the source of literary history and their research methods, to evaluate the products in terms of literary history, social culture, literary sociology and language, to draw conclusions about them, to equip students with the necessary knowledge in this direction, to educate individuals who have assimilated democratic values.
